Testimonies

Last year, I was raped in high school in Newport News. I went to Riverside for the PERK exam. I was in such trauma and when they presented me with this beautiful Fear 2 Freedom kit, I was really comforted. I want you to know I chose to come to CNU because of the compassion I received and the fact that you all have such a program. I was given hope, and now I love giving hope to others.

A 4-year old boy who had been sexually abused by a trusted family friend. When he came in for a forensic examination, he told me he didn’t have any friends at school. When he received his bag, he opened it up and found a stuffed animal, which he loved, and other care items. He was thrilled! When he left, he proudly carried his bag and bear down the hall.

Receiving the kit was very comforting and I was extremely thankful. I had clothes to leave the hospital in and items to refresh myself with after such a terrifying experience. I would’ve left the hospital with nothing, but instead, I left with dignity

Through Fear2Freedom I have been able to make an impact on the community and help survivors not feel alone. By spreading compassion and kindness in your daily life, you are able to make a difference in someone’s day, even if it’s just for a moment. Through taking the time and care for others, you can make an impact on someone else’s life.

“To walk out of the hospital in fresh clean clothes that no one has worn before you means someone thought about you before you ever arrived at that hospital. Someone cared enough to simply stuff a box; such a sweet, sweet simple act of kindness. Such a wonderful gift of hope.
